Online sellers in China Must Report Identity

5The online retailers in China are required to provide personal data completely and clearly. If not then the government would punish China with sizable fines.

This regulation is the latest, after the previous government of China imposed strict censorship of Internet content available. Even an online game player was given a similar regulation.

Quoted by Yahoo News, Thursday (07/01/2010), anyone of internet users who want to peddle his wares online so they must fill the data themselves, both full name and address, before selling goods on online shopping sites, both Taobao and eBay .

Regulations imposed by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce. This allows the government to impose a fine of approximately USD1, 470 if the online retailer was caught giving false personal data.

Retail sites will also miss out fines of 30,000 Yuan if they are caught not apply to the vendor registration system, or refuse to provide detailed information to the authorities who want to unload cases of illegal sales.

China currently has approximately 404 million Internet users and become the country’s largest Internet user in the world. That large amount of numbers support widespread use of online shopping services that progressively increased from year to year, as more and increasing use of online payment services.
