When you are being asked; which one better Joomla or WordPress, what would be your answer ? Of course there will be many different responds but which one is the correct one? There is no problem at all since all the answers are right. Why so, because each people has different criteria and perspective.

Joomla dan WordPress are similar open source software that is very populer and still exist nowadays. Both of them could be considered as a king of open source software for CMS category and blogging platform. For CMS, the flexibility and the quality of joomla has no doubt. However if we want to make blog, wordpress would be our first choice.

What is the weakness and the strength point of those software ?

At the early stage of internet development, those scheme become something bigger than needed. The IP creator realized that some networks only have thousands hosts. For example if one network with 1000 computers connected to internet and entered to one of that network ID, due to the capacity of the network available is only 1000 from the  65.536 host address available, that means there will be more than 64.000 IP address would be wasted (isn’t too dear? ).

Therefore the concept of this IP address classes was made in order to overcome that problem. Like what I explore in this topic, there are many ways to make blog with your own domain address such as http://domainname.com. However there are two common ways among all, are :

1. Self hosted WordPress Blog – buying domain + rent hosting and install the blogware wordpress. (which we already talked before )

2. Custom Domain Blogger.com – making blog in blogspot, buying domain, direct the blog in blogspot to the domain we purchased which we will discuss now

The concept of custom domain is very simple. Having blog in blog spot is very easy and cheap even free. However the blog in blogger / blogspot has one problem: the URL address will be very long since you have to add : blogspot.com), which look very general and not very professional. Selecting the name of the domain is more than just giving an identity for your blog since it could also give impact about how many visitor would visit your blog.

Start with an end in mind (Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits). First of all you need to set the goal about what you want to achieve through your blog. Different purpose of the blog would have different rules as well. Naming personal blog, corporate blog and niche blog which content of certain topic would also be different.
